“Anime is just for kids“, “Anime is not for grownups”. Those are what people usually said about anime, especially in my country.
Well I don’t know if there are still a lot of people thinking like that. But I would like to tell you this: Anime is not just for kids!
What anime have they seen?? If they watch anime for kids like Doraemon, Bleach, Naruto, Dragon Ball, Crayon Shinchan, etc, no wonder if they thought that anime is just for kids.
Anime=animation=cartoon=for kids?? What is that?!?
Let’s see examples from anime that is not for kids:
-Evangelion. It’s just too complicated. I (when I was 18 years old) needed 3 times to watch before I understand the ending. And Evangelion is just fool of blood and some nudity. I don’t think kids should watch this anime.
-Hunter X Hunter. Heads are rolling, crashed, and cut. Hisoka is just maniac. The strategies are a bit complicated. I don’t expect kids would understand it.
-Claymore. It’s full of blood and nudity.
And other anime like
-Darker than Black
-Black Lagoon
-Devil May Cry
-Love Hina
It’s clear that those animes are not for kids. It’s for the grownups!

Otaku
What does otaku means? Although in English or internationally otaku means anime or manga fan, it could actually mean a person who has obsession or interest to any certain topic or hobby.
For example, even a person who has the obsession in everything about military is actually an otaku too. So yes, maybe otaku refers to geek or nerd in English.
There are types of otaku:
-Anime otaku
-Manga otaku
-Pasokon (computer) otaku
-Gēmu (game) otaku
-Tetsudō otaku (metrophile)
- Gunji (military) otaku
-Etc.
So it doesn’t have to be anime-related topic.
But yes, otaku may have a negative meaning, especially when it’s said by non-otaku people. But somehow the otaku are rather proud calling them as otaku.
Well, I myself think it’s everybody’s choice what topic he will obsessed with.
But it would be different if that makes you isolated from the society.
So if you are anime otaku, I think it’s not so bad if you’re obsessed with anime. But please go out and play too. Keep communicating with the others!

Japanese Music
L'Arc~en~Ciel, X-Japan, Yellow Monkey, Siam Shade, Utada Hikaru, Younha, BoA, T.M. Revolution, Gackt, Nightmare, YUI, Home Made Kazoku, FLOW, Orange Range, etc
I'm crazy for japanese music (J-Rock, J-Pop, and the other J-).
I myself almost always listen to japanese music instead of my country music (but I listen it too).
Somehow, japanese music is just too addicting. I don't know how, I don't think like japanese, I can't speak japanese (but sometimes I could understand the meaning of some sentence because I watch anime a lot), but I'm still in love with japanese music.
It's all because of anime. I always watch anime, and I'm in love with it. In every anime there are always opening and ending song. Because I am fan of the anime, I search for those songs on the internet.
Then because I like the song, I search for another song that sung by the same artist.
I'm now in love with the artists.
for example, I love Rurouni Kenshin. I like the ending song titled "La 4th avenue Cafe". L'Arc~en~Ciel sing that song. I also like Great Teacher Onizuka, the opening song titled "Driver's High", Laruku (another name of L'Arc~en~Ciel) sing that song too. So I searched every song sung by Laruku. Then I'm now fan of Laruku.
Because I love Laruku, I also become a fan of Hyde 666 (the vocalist of Laruku) and Tetsu69 (the bassist of Laruku), who make their own solo album.
I think it's not strange for anime fan to like japanese music too.
That is why J-Music is now so popular, besides the other things that make it popular.

On veoh.com you can watch animes with streaming or by downloading it.
If you want to watch it by video streaming, you can simply watch it, just like you do on youtube.com.
But if you want to download it, you should first register for it. Don’t worry, it’s free.
After you register, search the anime you want to download. After you find it, click it. And then click “download video”.
Then you would be asked to download the program. Download it! After you download it, install it.
Then you have now installed it, and it will work with Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.
So go to veoh.com once more with IE or firefox, search the anime, and then click download. Your anime will be automatically downloaded.
After the download finished, go to My Document->My Video. You can play it from there too with another player.
The good things from veoh are it's fast, and there are also licensed animes

Is Fansub Legal
hohoho.. that is interesting.. we, the anime fans, usually obtain anime by downloading it for free (If you buy or rent the original DVD, I salute you^^). Is that legal?
actually it isn't legal. But sometime it is not a problem at all. why? Because the company that has the copyright doesn't complain about it.
Why??
-first, unlike the company that licenses those anime, fansub company doesn't make money from this (unless just donation)
-second, the company that has the copyright considers this as a free ad, so that there will be a company that wants to buy the license.
But they (the fansubs) have also "unofficial" rules that they must obey:
-it should be free! Donation is alright, but there should be no difference between donators and non-donators.
-should respect the company that has bought the license or release it in that country, by not subbing them.
-they may distribute other group's subbed anime by respecting the ToA (Terms of Agreement) (if stated).
so it would be definitely illegal if someone who doesn't have the license distribute an anime that has been licensed by a company in a country.
How to Download Torrent
Downloading it may sounds simple, but there are people who can't. well, a direct download or online storaging (megaupload or rapidshare, etc) are no problem I think. but torrent might be a problem for some people (no need to shame, we were all beginner). 1. Download bitcomet http://www.bitcomet.com/doc/download.htm
2. Install it
3. Download the torrent file, for example in http://www.animesuki.com/ (if you use Opera browser, it will download automaticly, so the bitcomet will be useless.. so don't download the torrent file with Opera (well, I'm a newbie too, so correct me if I'm wrong))
4. open the torrent file with bitcomet, and decide where would you save the file.
5.start download
The speed of the download depends on how much seeder of the torent file online at that time. so if there are only 5 seeders, the download most likely will be so slow. but if there are 1000 seeder it would be so fast.
Usually in anime, the newer the file, the more seeder are there. so it would be great if you download it on time when the anime's released.
