Is Fansub Legal

hohoho.. that is interesting.. we, the anime fans, usually obtain anime by downloading it for free (If you buy or rent the original DVD, I salute you^^). Is that legal?

actually it isn't legal. But sometime it is not a problem at all. why? Because the company that has the copyright doesn't complain about it.

Why??

-first, unlike the company that licenses those anime, fansub company doesn't make money from this (unless just donation)
-second, the company that has the copyright considers this as a free ad, so that there will be a company that wants to buy the license.

But they (the fansubs) have also "unofficial" rules that they must obey:
-it should be free! Donation is alright, but there should be no difference between donators and non-donators.
-should respect the company that has bought the license or release it in that country, by not subbing them.
-they may distribute other group's subbed anime by respecting the ToA (Terms of Agreement) (if stated).

so it would be definitely illegal if someone who doesn't have the license distribute an anime that has been licensed by a company in a country.

well..it's a good thing and bad thing I think.

licensed means you'll be able to buy the DVD, with high quality and good sub. It could also mean you might not be able to download it for free.. but that we don't know yet.

Ouran High School Host Club

Ok, those are serious animes (except Honey & Clover). This time I’ll give you a very funny anime. Ouran High School Host Club.

Synopsis:

Fujioka Haruhi, a normal student in a very prosperous high school who always studies hard. Haruhi is actually popular because Haruhi is the only commoner in that school.

One day Haruhi was looking for a quite place to study, but it’s noisy everywhere because the rich go to school just for play. So Haruhi went to the music hall, but haruhi found a host club.

Host club is actually a club for handsome rich guys, who have time to give hospitality to those lovely ladies who also have time and profit off of them.

But Haruhi made a mistake by shattering a vase. So that Haruhi’s in debt for 8 million yen (around 80.000 dollar). So Haruhi should pay the debt by being the club’s dog. But Haruhi isn’t doing a good job. For example, the club told Haruhi to buy coffee.. but Haruhi bought an instant coffee, which those rich bastards, I mean people, never drink before (they drink espresso). They didn’t even know that there is instant coffee. For them, it’s too “common”. So they’re scared to drink it.

But the club realizes that Haruhi has definitely a charm. So they decided to make haruhi as a host.

There are 6 members of the club (exclude Haruhi):

-Suou Tamaki. He is the leader of this club. Although he has the leadership skill and is loved by his member, he believes too much to people. But he is definitely a good man with a simple and unique personality. He is the prince type host, the king, and the father of this club.

-Ootori Kyouya. He is the cool type host. Kyouya is very smart. He should study hard to make his father satisfied. He is the manager of this host, he take care the accounting part. He is also the "mother" of this club.

-Hitachiin Hikaru and Hitachiin Kaoru. These twins always sell brotherly love for their customer. They are very naughty and make everything as their toy. They seem always cheerful, but they actually have problem because no one has recognized them as hikaru or kaoru because they are very identical.

-Haninozuka Mitsukuni (a.k.a Honey). He is the lolishota type host (lolishota means young boy under 17 who is very cute). He likes to eat cake and something sweet. Despite it looks, he is very good at martial art.

-Morinozuka Takashi (a.k.a Mori). He is the wild type host. He always baby sits Honey and protects him. He is very good in kendo.

Despite their look, they have their own rich people problem. Haruhi seems to be their savior. Vise versa, these rich people want to improve their relation with Haruhi, but it seems like a different dimension, dimension of the commoner.


I’ll rate it 3 or 4 stars.. well , it’s 3 ½ stars^^

This anime is super funny. There is a lot of hyperbolism.

You should definitely watch this anime.

How to Download Torrent

Downloading it may sounds simple, but there are people who can't. well, a direct download or online storaging (megaupload or rapidshare, etc) are no problem I think. but torrent might be a problem for some people (no need to shame, we were all beginner). 1. Download bitcomet http://www.bitcomet.com/doc/download.htm
2. Install it
3. Download the torrent file, for example in http://www.animesuki.com/ (if you use Opera browser, it will download automaticly, so the bitcomet will be useless.. so don't download the torrent file with Opera (well, I'm a newbie too, so correct me if I'm wrong))
4. open the torrent file with bitcomet, and decide where would you save the file.
5.start download

The speed of the download depends on how much seeder of the torent file online at that time. so if there are only 5 seeders, the download most likely will be so slow. but if there are 1000 seeder it would be so fast.

Usually in anime, the newer the file, the more seeder are there. so it would be great if you download it on time when the anime's released.

Claymore

Phew.. I want to share this anime.. I can tell you the interesting part of the story, but it will end up as a spoiler because it has a flash back for 4 episodes.

Hmm.. how about this? I’ll tell you the main story without tell you when, or who of those scene. Ok?


Synopsis:

There is a time when villages were attacked by monsters called “Yoma”. Yoma can also disguise as a human. Yoma like to eat human’s guts.

In order to raid these Yoma, villagers usually ask reinforcement from “Claymore”. Claymores are silver-eyed female swordsmen half-human and half-Yoma. Because they’re half-Yoma, people are usually scared asking for their help. Claymores can also partially transform into Yoma, but if they cross a certain limit, they will never change back and turn into Yoma.

The main character in this anime named Clare. She is a Claymore, but not special one. Her job just like any other Claymore, to find Yoma in the city then kill them. Her character's just like any other Claymore too, cold and emotionless.

One day he met a boy named Raki. Raki has lost both of his parents because a Yoma killed them, because of that Raki has no one to live with. Then Clare takes him as a cook. Raki accompanies Clare through her missions.

Clare’s past:

Every Claymore was once a human, so was Clare. She has no one to live with, because she had lost her parents, since then she was a Yoma’s toy. One day a Claymore named Teresa slashed the Yoma. Since that day Clare clung to Teresa. Teresa was actually the number one Claymore (the strongest Claymore).

But one day Teresa killed human in order to protect Clare. Claymores have a rule that they must not kill human regardless the condition, those who violate this rule should be executed. But Teresa wanted to stay live for Clare. That makes the organization sent number 2 to number 5 to hunt for Teresa’s head. Of course they didn’t make it.

But the situation changed when 1 of them turned into Yoma and kill the other except Clare. In order to take revenge, Clare decided to be a Claymore.


I rate this anime 4 stars.

Before you download it, I want you to know that episodes 1 to 4 are kind of boring. Well, it’s not boring actually, but filler-like episodes. They are just ordinary missions. But since it’s about the main story, episodes 5 above are superb! You should definitely watch this anime!

Black Lagoon

Next anime.. this anime’s kind of brutal, and a little bit adult. And deep.. a little bit like the Godfather. If you like Godfather, and you like something chaotic, like Gangs of New York, I think you should watch this anime!

Synopsis:

Okajima Rokuro is just a normal businessman. His normal day consists of social drinking with clients and being kicked around by his bosses.

He finally gets a break though, as he’s sent by his company to the tropical seas of Eastern China to deliver a disc…only his boat gets hijacked by a mercenary company, The Lagoon Company, that were hired to steal it. “Rock” (as he is newly dubbed by his captors) catches the interest of the only female mercenary “Revy” as she thinks he’s worth a ransom, taking him hostage.

However, the disc turns out to be more trouble than its worth, and complicates things both for Rock, and the Lagoon, because Rock’s company doesn’t even bother thinking of him as a hostage.

Betrayed by his company, Rock decides to join the Lagoon although he’s a good man. Rock proves his quality as the intelligent one by planning strategies and his art of approaching.

The Lagoon has 3 members (exclude Rock):

Revy. She is a gunslinger know as “Two-Hands”, it’s because her skill using two gun. She is a very short-tempered and brash girl.

Dutch. He is the boss of this company. He used to baby sit Revy, because Revy seems to be out of control.

Benny. He used to deal with computers and electronics. He joined the Lagoon after Revy saved his ass.

The Lagoon based in a city called Roanapur. Roanapur is simply a city without law and full of murderer, trickster, prostitute, rapist, gangster, veteran, etc.

Rock’s always having hard times with this chaotic city, while he’s keeping his good-man ideology.


Actually I want to rate it 4 stars, but because not all of us could like this anime (because this anime’s very deep and has like-novel language), I’ll rate it 3 stars.

Hunter X Hunter

Hohoho.. This is my life time favorite anime! HunterXHunter. There is no anime I love more than this anime. Why? Because this anime actually just fantasy, the story takes place not in this world, but the story line is very logical. It’s full of analysis. It’s full of adventures and most of all, friendship.

Synopsis:

Gon Freecs, a simple young boy, who lives in a village with his aunt, Mito. Gon’s mother has died. And he thought his father has died too.

One day comes a hunter named Kaito. Hunter is a special job with many privileges (ex: Entering restricted areas, visa to all countries, getting secret information, hunting treasures and animals, license to kill, borrowing a lot of money from the bank, etc).

Kaito is in his mission to find his teacher, Ging Freecs, Gon’s father. Kaito tells Gon that his father isn’t dead yet. He is even the greatest hunter Kaito has ever seen.

Knowing his father isn’t dead makes Gon want to find him. To do that, he should be a hunter in order to gather information about him.

Not everybody could be a hunter. There is a hunter exam to know if the person qualified. It takes place only once in a year. There are so many participants, but usually none of them is qualified to be a hunter. The hunter exam usually takes lives from the participants.

Gon meets some people on the hunter exam:

Leorio. Leorio wants to be hunter because he needs a lot of money to be a doctor. He wants to cure kids with a certain disease for free.

Kurapica. Kurapica wants to be hunter because he needs to gather information about Genei Ryodan. Genei Ryodan a criminal organization that massacre kurapica’s tribe, Kuruta tribe, for their red eyes. His missions are take revenge to Genei Ryodan and collect red eyes of his family

Killua Zaoldyeck. Killua comes from legendary assassin family. Of course killing people is his job. He is actually the next successor of his family. He has actually no intention to be hunter. He’s just wasting his free time.

Hisoka. Hisoka is a maniac with killing as his hobby. Maybe he’s the strongest character in this anime. He wants to be hunter because he wants the license to kill. His background is actually a mystery.

This anime’s just simply superb

Of course I will rate it 4 stars!.. 5 stars if I could^^

I don’t want to give you spoilers, but this anime will get more interesting when it’s about “nen”, and of course it will get even more interesting when it's dealing with Genei ryodan

But sorry again, I don’t have the episode, I haven’ downloaded it, because I have watched it on VCD..

Next anime^^
Honey & Clover.. I love this anime, because it's just so ordinary, but interesting.

Synopsis:

Takemoto Yuuta, junior student in an art and design university. Takemoto leave in a cheap and shabby apartment with his seniors: Mayama Takumi, an architecture major student with a very mature psychology. Morita Shinobu, an eternal student who never gets serious with his study because he spends most of his time in making money.

One day a very talented girl with tiny body, Hanamoto Hagumi, comes. Hagumi is very attached with her father’s cousin, Hanamoto Sensei (teacher). Takemoto likes Hagu but Hanamoto Sensei’s overprotecting her and Hagu seems to like Morita instead of Takemoto. Morita likes Hagu too.

Yamada Ayumi, student who is very talented in pottery. Yamada loves Mayama, but Mayama likes another woman, Harada Rika, Hanamoto Sensei’s friend. Unfortunately Rika still loves her late husband.

Honey & Clover is a drama comedy anime that tells us about friendship with conflicts in it. Although this anime doesn’t tell us about amazing characters nor special events, this anime tells us about how the characters be mature, so that this anime very nice to watch.

Darker than BLACK

Second anime I want to share you.. Darker Than BLACK. Actually, this anime is not my type, because I love anime that if I missed one or more episodes I wouldn’t understand the story. HunterXHunter, Death Note, Bleach, Code Geass. These animes are my type, but animes like Inu-Yasha, Doraemon, Detective Conan aren’t, because if I don’t watch an episode or more, I would still understand the story. So Darker Than BLACK is not my type actually, but I love this anime^^. I believe there would be more sites talking about it in the future.

Synopsis:

In the future, there is a city somewhere in Japan. The city is surrounded by wall to protect the city from outside. Even the sky and the stars are fake.

On that time, there are people who have supernatural powers. They’re called “contractors” and “dolls”.

Contractors are actually human, who are bound by some kind of contract in order to get the supernatural powers (ex: Gravity controlling, electricity, teleportation, invisible whip blade, another’s body possessing, etc). In order to maintain their power they have to do a certain thing (ex: breaking his own finger, arranging pebbles, eating flower, folding papers, smoking, drinking alcohol, etc). Contractor usually lost their emotion. They couldn’t be mad, happy, sad, etc.

Dolls aren’t actually human. They just look like human. They don’t have free will or initiative. They are just mediums. They can be planted by someone's memory.

The main character’s named Hei also known as “black shinigami (death god)”. He is a contractor with electricity power. But not like any other contractor, he doesn’t need to do a certain funny thing and he still has his emotion.

Hei works for an organization, like a secret agent. On missions, he should kill many contractors (actually, he just hate contractors), that makes him wanted by the police.

I rate it 4 star^^

Death Note

Before I start, I would like to tell you how I describe how great or lame the anime. There are 5 level, 4 stars: “you must watch this!”, 3 stars “would be cool”, 2 stars: “nothing special, but worth it”, 1 star: “kinda waste of time”, and no star: “don’t watch this!!”

Ok then,, First anime that I want to tell you is Death Note. Yeah I know, everybody knows this anime, but I’m still gonna tell you anyway. This anime is super great. On anime news network, it had been few month on the first place.

Synopsis:

Yagami Light, a smart and bright (maybe the brightest) student in Japan, found this world is rotten. Murderer, burglar, corrupted politician, rapist, etc, they are everywhere. One day, he found a notebook titled “death note”. A note book with special powers, human whose name written on the note shall die, and it can control deaths too. This notebook was dropped by a shinigami (death god) named Ryuk, because he’s bored with his daily activity in his world, gambling and sleeping.

Light took this opportunity to make this world a better world without crime in it, and be the god of the new world himself. He kills countless criminals. People recognize these as murder because all of them die because of heart attack. People support Light and call him “Kira” (from the word “killer”), while Light’s covering his identity.

But the police don’t support him, because at any rate Kira is murderer. Of course they cannot find Kira’s identity, because death note can kill people without touch the victims and without trace. Therefore police ask help from L, the greatest detective in the world whose name and whereabouts are unknown.

Light found L as a trouble, because L has located Kira in Kantou region, and the greatest detective title isn’t just for show. And then, the duel starts. Duel between L and Kira. Duel of intelligence.

Of course I rate it 4 stars!
